Susann Marie Gaughran (nee Bucher) passed away peacefully July 8, 2023, surrounded by her
husband and three daughters. Born November 21, 1958, in St. Louis, MO to Edwin and Dolores
Bucher (nee Diehn).
Susann married Thomas Gaughran in 1979 and went on to raise three extraordinary daughters,
Stephanie, Jennifer, and Nicole. A lifelong parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish;
Susann shared her musical gifts, playing the organ and singing in the choir. The ever-loving
mother and grandmother; she was her daughters’ and grandchildren’s biggest fan, finding her on
the soccer sidelines or in the stands at gymnastics events, hockey, basketball and volleyball
games. Later in life Sue and Tom discovered their love for cruising, taking regular trips to
tropical destinations.
Susann is survived by her husband Tom, daughters Stephanie (Richard) Bardgett, Jennifer
(Robert Joseph) Hayden and Nicole (Ryan) Broekelmann, grandchildren Alexis and Kyle
Bardgett, Miles and Tucker Hayden, Ceilidh, Ryan, Josephine and Iona Broekelmann, mother
Dolores, brothers Joseph (Marcia) Bucher, Raymond (Brenda) Bucher and sister Sandra (Daniel)
Middendorf.
Visitation will be held Friday July 14, 2023 at Our Lady of Sorrow, 5020 Rhodes Ave, St. Louis,
MO 63109, from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. A memorial mass will be held immediately after.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the David M. Sindelar Cancer Center or the
American Cancer Society
