Roger Wayne Bailey left this world and entered the presence of His Savior on May 2, 2026. Roger was a larger-than-life figure whose life was transformed by Jesus Christ as an adult. He was always generous, even until the end, by donating his organs.
Roger was born on July 7, 1952, in St. Louis, MO, where he was raised and lived his entire life. He attended Roosevelt High School, worked as a professional wrestler, better known as “Big Daddy,” and as a hair stylist. After his wrestling career, he owned his own shop called Head Strong in the Dogtown area.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Darla Jean (Shultz) Bailey, whom he married on November 13, 1993, at Tower Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold O Bailey and Wanda J (Caldwell) Bailey. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul Bailey, and his sister, Tina Cornwell. He is survived by his beloved sister Cynthia Collins. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Aubrey Shultz, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Providence Baptist Church, 2539 Rockford Ave, St. Louis, MO 63144, on Thursday, May 7, at 6:00 PM. Memorial flowers can be delivered directly to the church. In honor of Roger, please feel free to wear your favorite hat.
