MARSHALL, II., RICHARD DALE; (A.K.A. PAPA); Richard was born on October 5, 1966 to Rick and Dorothy Marshall in San Bernadino, CA. He passed away on December 20, 2021 in Florissant, MO.
Richard was married to his wife and high school soul mate Kathleen for 36 years. Two high school sweethearts who were engaged when she was 16 and he was 17. After a 1 1/2 year engagement, they were married on May 31, 1985. On July 29th, 1986 their first son Joshua was born. On December 3rd, 1987 their second son Brian was born.
In September 1986, Richard joined the U.S. Army. He served 15 months on the DMZ in South Korea and also served in Support of Operation Desert Storm. He was discharged from the Army in March 1991.
Richard spent several years as a car salesman until the effects of multiple sclerosis made it impossible for him to work. He suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2004, from a car accident.
Then in 2011, he was diagnosed with melanoma. In the years since, the melanoma metastasized and in July 2021 Richard was given a terminal diagnosis.
In spite of his illnesses and T.B.I., Papa was the most kind and loving husband, Dad and Grandpa. His family meant the world to him and he never missed an opportunity to say how much he loved them.
Richard was the worlds greatest Kansas City Chiefs fan. As he would often say, “W in or lose, I am always a fan.” Papa had great fun watching all the games and would dress up head to toe in Chiefs wear to get himself psyched up and in the Spirit of the game.
Papa also enjoyed fishing. He loved to play cat and mouse with the perch and would get as happy and excited as a child whenever he caught one….no matter the size.
Papa had a very kind, sweet and simple spirit. He took great joy in doing whatever he could to help others. One of his greatest joys was making and sharing a cup of coffee with anyone who would accept the offer.
Richard was pre-deceased by his father, Richard Marshall; his mother, Dorothy Marshall; and Grand-daughter Alexis Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Marshall; his sons, Joshua and Brian Marshall; Grandson, Nikolai Marshall; sister, Vikki Marshall-Charloe and niece, Darby Charloe.
Richard passed away December 20, 2021. He will be forever loved and missed.
He is now at rest with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“For eternity Baby Doll, for eternity.”
