PEGGY MARIE ARRAS
Peggy Marie (Meesey) Arras (92) of St. Louis, MO passed away on June 29, 2022.
Peggy was born to Leonard and Helen Meesey on December 1, 1929 in San
Antonio, Texas. Having lived a long, happy and healthy life, Peggy was preceded in
death by her parents, her brother Leonard, many relatives and friends, and her
beloved husband, Ray Arras. Peggy is survived by her eight children; Terry (Don),
Gary, Mike (Sue), Kathy (Greg), Ray (Shelley), Jim (Tina), Nancy (Joe), and Peggy,
her 17 grandchildren; Donnie, Dario, Dustin, Chrissy, Mike , Shannon, Patrick,
Grant, Ben, Jessie, Ally, Ray, Dominic, Samantha, Luke, Joshua, and Nick, and her
14 great grandchildren; Addison, Colten, Gage, Cora, Leihana, Teddy, Liam, Ishaan,
Mayukh, Jack, Robyn, Kinsley, Millie and Bo. Peggy (aka Grandma) was all about
family and, as you can see, she had a very big one who loved her without limits.
When Peggy was a teenager the Meesey family moved to Bonne Terre, Missouri. A
few years later the family moved again, this time to the “big city,” St. Louis. It was
there that Peggy met her future husband (their first date was on the Admiral)
through Ada Sweeney, her best friend and co-worker. Not too long thereafter
Peggy and Ada became sister-in-laws when Peggy married Ray, and Ada married
his brother Bob. Peggy & Ray were married on June 10,1950, and wasted no time
in starting their family. Although Peggy was very busy with her eight children, she
somehow managed a long and successful career as well. Peggy began her career
with the Wohl Shoe Company, where she was initially hired as a shoe model (a
perfect size 41/2!), and also worked as an administrative assistant. Peggy then
proceeded to work with Southwestern Bell; served as the long-time Office
Manager for Progress Electric (Bob Arras’ electrician company); and in her later
years even worked for a Catholic school and the DMV. Whether it was at home or
in the office, Peggy smiled, worked hard and made everybody’s day a little brighter.
Although Peggy was busy with raising kids and her career, she still made time for
many different interests. She was a life-long Cardinal fan with strong opinions,
who could talk baseball with anyone. She loved her Cardinals, and watched nearly
every game. Peggy was also an amazing card player, and she always enjoyed a
game of Mahjong. She was also an avid reader, and many of her favorite moments
were those spent on the beach or by a pool, enjoying the sun and reading a good
book. And, last but not least, Peggy was a true St. Louisan, who always enjoyed a
hot summer day with family, friends and an ice-cold beer on the patio.
Peggy Arras was an amazing woman. She loved life…she loved Ray…she loved her
kids, grandkids, and great grandkids…and we will all miss her forever. We take
comfort knowing that after a very long and good run, she is now happily at peace
with Ray in Heaven.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (4200 Delor Street)
Wednesday, July 13, 2022, from 9:30-11:00. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 AM.
