John Wayne Parton

John Wayne Parton, 64, of Moscow Mills, Missouri, passed away on Friday,
July 31, 2026, at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, Missouri. He was born on
March 11, 1962, in Troy, Missouri to Verney Parton and Melita Doerr
(formerly Melita Parton, née Bobbitt)
John was the youngest of seven children. He is survived by his sisters,
Jacqueline “Jackie” Parton, Brenda Sue Parton, and Linda (née Rutherford)
Vandiver. He was preceded in death by his sisters Kathleen (née Parton)
Harris and Deborah “Debbie” (née Rutherford) King and his brother Frankie
Parton, Sr.
John was not married, nor did he have children of his own, but he was very
close to his sister Jackie and her family. John felt like her children: Juston,
Danielle, Crystal, Tyson, Cody, Michael and Kyndra Lyn were like his own.
As well as her grandchildren: Kora, Jacob, Jimmy, Lexie, and Dustin. He
also remained close with Jackie’s ex-husband, Wayne Johnson, who he
always felt was more like a brother.
Despite battling cancer, going in and out of remission over the past thirty
years, he maintained a positive attitude and would do anything for those he
loved. He was very free-spirited and easy-going. Truly a good soul and
great man to know. He will be dearly missed by everyone who shared his
life with him, but they will find comfort in knowing he is out of pain and
resting peacefully with our Lord.
