Deborah (Debbie) Lynn Bruns, age 62, of St. Charles, Missouri passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023 in her home with her loving husband of 41 years, Jon Bruns, at her side. She was born on April 25, 1961 to the late Bettie Jane Peyton Reed and Cordie Earl Reed Jr. In 1982, she married Jon and graduated from Memphis State University. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Secondary Education Administration from the University of Missouri St. Louis. She worked as a math teacher for 9 years at Parkway Central High School, 17 years at Cross Keys Middle School, and 8 years at St. Charles Community College. During that time, she was a faithful member of Cross Keys Baptist Church for over 40 years where she enjoyed using her love of math to serve as church treasurer. She recently joined First Baptist Church O’Fallon where she served as the accounts payable clerk. For the past 4 years, she joyfully volunteered as a Mercy Mover at Mercy Hospital. Debbie’s unconditional love for family and friends combined with her overwhelmingly positive and caring attitude has impacted many and she will be deeply missed.
She leaves behind her husband, Jon Bruns; two sons Christopher Bruns (Rachel) and Adam Bruns-Trukhin (Ivan); granddaughters Charlotte, Holland, Wren, and Norah Bruns; and brother Joseph Reed (Angie). She was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Reed. She was a caring aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, and cousin, and she was a dear friend to many.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at First Baptist Church O’Fallon at 8750 Veterans Memorial Parkway in O’Fallon from 1:00pm to 3:00pm with a memorial service immediately following at 3:00pm. The service will be live-streamed online at http://firstofallon.com/live.
