Charley “Charlie” JT Vancil, 92, of Imperial (formerly of Festus) passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of February 27, 2022. Born on March 17, 1929 in Malden, Missouri, he was the son of the late Nevada Mae (Langston), and Dewey M. Vancil.
Charlie enjoyed fishing, hunting, the occasional game of solitare, and spending time with family and friends. He joined the Army March 15, 1951 shortly after marrying his late wife Lucinda “Cindy” (Walls) on July 3, 1950.
Charlie is survived by his youngest brother, George Vancil, and by his four children; Patsy DeClue of Tennessee; James Steven Ray Vancil of Imperial; Carolyn Benson of Festus; and Michael Vancil of Festus. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Chad (Ashley) Vancil; Ashley (Luca) Baptista; Amy (Tim) Roe; Lesley DeClue; Rachel (DeClue) Wilbanks; Michelle (Adam) Forister; nine great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for April 4, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place, after the burial, at 1310 Miller Rd. in Imperial, MO. 63052. We ask that you send any(all) memorials to this address, as well.
