Carol was a wife of fifty-five years to Chester Slater. Loving mother of Noelle Johnson, Dawn (Stacey) Slater, Chester ‘Jason” Slater, Diamond Slater, and Heather (Brian Taylor) Taylor. Dear sister of Debrie Johnson-Stewart and Denise Stith. Cherished grandmother of Star (little Star to big Star (Carol) Triplett, Tyrus Beckwith, Dawnn Triplett (Dawnn Poo-poo), Jason Slater and Devin Miller; She was an aunt to Lisa Jones, Clyde Stith Jr., Gia Stith and Sharmaine Stith; cousins Valiere Hill, Vera Robinson-Tobias, Carol Bonds, Sheena Lockhart-Williams, Carmen Hill, Casey Covington, Karen Handley, Kim Blackmon, William Triplett Sr., Treniece Triplett-King; niece of Mattie Bonds and Johnnie Peoples-Lockhart.
Carol was a kind soul who loved watching old movies, listening to music, sunflowers, roses, perfume, sweets, and reading. She was a fierce protector of her children and always reminded them of how beautiful they were inside and out. She will be dearly missed by her family. Her family knows she is in a better place. She was too kind for this world, and is being eternally protected by her sister Denise and her son Jason, and loved on and fussed at by her mother Ernestine and sister Debrie.
Psalms 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
I Thought of You Today
I thought of you today,
But that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday,
And will tomorrow too.
I think of you in silence,
And make no outward show,
For what it meant to lose you,
Only those who love you know.
Remembering you is easy,
I do it every day.
It’s the heartache of losing you,
That will never go away.
We miss you, Mother!
We are glad you are at peace, Mother. You are free of the trials and tribulations of this world. You were too kind for this world anyway. We hope you read all the books you have yet to discover while taking in the sun in a field of sunflowers. You deserve that.
We know you are in a better place, but we will miss the hugs only a mother can give to her children. We will miss you nursing us back from sickness, breakups with our first loves, the sound of your voice, and your quirky sense of humor. We will miss you working an iPhone and iPad better than most people who own one, even some of your kids. We will miss laughing with you about the time you sent unsealed vitamins in the mail to Heather when she caught a cold. We miss you, Mother. Until we see you again, we love you to infinity and beyond.
