William (Bill) Edwin Walker
June 8, 1950 – May 17, 2025
William “Bill” Edwin Walker passed away on May 17, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital at the age of 74. He was born on June 8, 1950, to Jack and Shirley Walker and spent most of his life in Illinois.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a member of the Seabees, where he contributed to military construction efforts and developed the strong work ethic that would define his career. After returning home, he worked as a masonry contractor for many years, building a legacy of skill and labor that still stands today.
He is survived by his children: Jill (Tom) Taylor, Wendy (Frank) Hodel, Annie (Chris) Gonzalez, Andrew (Heather) Walker, and Nick (Tori) Walker. He also helped raise three stepsons during his second marriage: Adam (Megan) Eisenhour, Brandon (Leslie) Eisenhour, and William (Jamie) Gonzalez.
Bill was the grandfather of Helen and Henry Hodel; Isabella Gonzalez; Chase, Aubrie, and Brielle Walker; and Bella, Emma, Mateo and Niko Gonzalez.
In addition, he was fortunate to share a meaningful connection with his nephews, Edward and Craig Walker.
For over 15 years, Bill shared his life with Tammy Keller, whom he often described as the love of his life. Although their relationship ended in a difficult separation, Tammy continued to care deeply for him. In his final days, she returned to be by his side, offering comfort, compassion, and kindness, until his last breath. Her presence during that time brought him peace, and her care and compassion for Bill is something his family is sincerely grateful for.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Shirley Walker, his brother, Charlie Walker, and his sister Pat Walker.
Bill’s life was shaped by hard work, military service, and personal complexity. Though his relationships were often complicated and connection was not always easy, his journey has come to a peaceful end while surrounded by family. He is now at rest.
As a proud Veteran, a full Military Service and Column Wall Interment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 11:30 a.m.
We have no doubt that he can now be found sitting on a bench at the Rainbow Bridge with his beloved pup, Lizzie.
