Rebecca Jo Borghi — our Becca, our Becky — went home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2026, at the age of 44.
Born on May 16, 1981 in St. Louis, Rebecca spent her first 20 years surrounded by her big Italian family, laughter-filled gatherings, and the strong roots that shaped her life. More than 20 years ago, she made Tucson her home — but no matter where she lived, family remained her center.
To know Rebecca was to feel instantly welcomed. She had a warmth that disarmed you, a wit that made you laugh, and a joy that filled a room. She was the kind of person who made you feel seen and was sure to make you smile. There was no prejudice in her heart — only acceptance, encouragement, and love. She was a peacemaker in her family, a fiercely loyal friend, and deeply protective of the people she loved and the unity of her family.
Her greatest passion was her faith in Jesus. A devoted member of Rising Star Baptist Church, Rebecca didn’t just attend church — she served with her whole heart. Whether handing out food and blankets through the Acts 4:32 homeless ministry, rocking babies in the infant room, pouring into children, joining cell groups, or volunteering during Vacation Bible School, she lived what she believed. Her faith was steady and sincere, especially in hard seasons. She trusted that God would bring good from every situation and encouraged herself and others with Scripture and uplifting words.
Rebecca spent more than 20 years in the flooring and tile industry, building not just a career in sales, but meaningful relationships. Customers became friends because she genuinely cared. Integrity and kindness were simply who she was.
But above all roles — daughter, sister, employee, friend — she treasured being “Mom” and “Noni.” She is survived by her beloved sons, Devon Borghi and Ryan Edwards, and her precious grandsons, Kayden Hurst and Aziel Edwards, whom she adored. Her love for her sons and grandsons was boundless and unmistakable. They were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment with them, always showering them with love, encouragement, and unwavering presence.
She is also survived by her father, Charles “Chuck” Borghi (Linda Ruzicka) and her mother, Nancy Borghi; her sisters Megan (Caleb) Coleman, Emily and Morgan Borghi; her brother Christian Borghi; her nieces Isabella “Izzy,” Rory, and Caley Coleman; her nephew Brody Coleman; and many cherished aunts, uncles and extended family members, along with treasured Arizona “sisters” and family built through the years. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Raymond and Martha DeGreeff, Frank and Rose Borghi, and her Aunt Vicki McElroy.
Rebecca had a gift for beauty — not just in art and fashion, but in people. She loved thrift shopping for the perfect bargain, putting together adorable outfits, planning celebrations just for the joy of gathering everyone together, and finding the most thoughtful, personal gifts. Giving brought her happiness. Making someone feel special brought her purpose.
Two of her favorite quotes by Mother Teresa capture the way she lived:
“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
“Do ordinary things, with extraordinary love.”
Rebecca did exactly that. Day after day, in ordinary moments — a meal shared, a gift given, a baby rocked, a word of encouragement sent — she loved with extraordinary depth.
