Jeanette “Sue” Sapp

Jeanette “Sue” Sapp, 86, formerly of Columbia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, at the home of her daughter in St. Louis, Missouri. Born in Boone County, Missouri, on February 13, 1938, Sue was known for her zest for life, her outgoing spirit, and her strong independence. She brought warmth and joy to all who knew her, and her love for family and friends was unwavering.
Sue married the love of her life, Larry Emerson Sapp, on May 11, 1957, and they shared 62 beautiful years of marriage until his passing in 2019. Together, they built a life centered on family, community, and faith, leaving a legacy of love and devotion. Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, remembered for her bold spirit and lively personality that brightened any room.
An avid crafter, Sue found joy in painting, needlepoint, and crocheting, and she had a deep love for art and home decorating. She also loved square dancing and playing cards with her friends, bringing laughter and a joyful energy to every gathering.
Sue is survived by her daughters, Lanette Bowring of St. Louis, Missouri, and foster daughter Charlotte Martin of Rolla, Missouri; her son, Darrell Sapp of Columbia, Missouri; her 12 beloved grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her sisters Judy Crane of Ashland, Missouri; Rosemary Southworth of Norwich, Connecticut; and Carol Park of New Hampshire.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Perkins; her father, Perry Grindstaff; her beloved husband, Larry Sapp; and her brother, James Perkins.
Sue’s family, friends, and community will remember her as a source of strength, creativity, and unforgettable energy. A service celebrating her life will be held in her honor on Saturday, December 7 at Little Bonne Femme Church in Columbia, Missouri.
