Edward Eugene Wallace was the third child of five children. Born on June 19, 1951, to Benny and Mable Wallace, who both preceded him in death. Edward was nicknamed Gene as a boy and was known and loved by many. Gene attended St Louis Public Schools. As a young teen, he faithfully worked in his Grandparents corner store for years. (Morton’s Confectionary) He spent a lot of time with his Grandparents, especially his Granddaddy Johnny. Gene was his favorite.

He experienced the devastating loss of his eldest son, Andre, and a grandson, Curon. He worked in Construction and was in the Laborers and Teamsters Union. He loved watching sports and going fishing. He liked Levi’s and baseball caps. He loved soul food and often asked for Ham Hocks and Beans from the family cooks. But he also liked cooking, and one of his favorite meals was Pork Chops, Rice and Gravy.

Gene later married Rosie Taylor, who preceded him in death (2018), and together they raised 4 boys, Tony, Corey, Curt, and Edward, and opened their home to many. He confessed a hope in Christ while married, and him and his wife were members of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized.

Gene had 4 siblings; 3 have preceded him in death: Glenn (Silky-1997), Bernita (2022), and James (Baybro-2023).

He leaves to mourn his death baby sister, Marion, 1 daughter Latonya, 5 sons, Torre Edward, Tony (Marcey), Corey (Shantele) and Curt, a host of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, 1 Uncle (Benny/Carol) 2 Aunts (Lorraine/Floyd and Janie), a Devoted Friend, Renee Butts-Mason, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
