Daniel Gregg McCluskey, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed unexpectedly on November 9, 2024. Known fondly as Danny, he brought laughter and joy to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Danny loved spending time with his friends and family, playing guitar, and fishing, which were among his favorite pastimes. His teenage years in Florida, raised by his father, were filled with surfing, music, and adventure—experiences that shaped his vibrant and magnetic personality.
A jack-of-all-trades, Danny began his career as a roofer in Florida. Later, he expanded into a variety of construction trades, effortlessly adapting his skills wherever he was needed. Splitting his time between Iowa and Missouri, he approached his work and life with an easygoing charm that endeared him to everyone around him. Whether on the job or sharing a laugh, Danny’s presence made any space feel brighter and more welcoming.
He is survived by his sister, Vicki Ross of Urbandale, Iowa; brothers, Martin Robert McCluskey II of St. Louis, Missouri; Doug (Deanna) Boyles of Wolcottville, Indiana; Randy Boyles of Norwalk, Iowa; Troy Boyles of Potosi, Missouri; and sister, Nena (Jim) Swift of Norwalk, Iowa. Danny will also be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, and a large circle of friends who were like family.
Danny was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Osborne (a.k.a. Joan Nichols); his father, Martin Robert McCluskey Sr.; stepmother, Fay McCluskey; brothers, Duane Boyles, Todd Boyles, and Tony Boyles; sister, Linda McCluskey; son, Jason McCluskey; and the mother of his son, Dorien.
Danny’s life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and resilience. His story will be completed in the days ahead as his family and friends honor his memory and celebrate the profound impact he had on their lives.
