Ann “Annie” Marie Schlarman (nee: LaRocca) went home to Jesus on August 31, 2020 at the age of 77. Annie was born on September 30, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Michael and Marie LaRocca.
She is the beloved wife of her husband George for 59 years. He called her Birdie, his beloved birdie on her perch. Loving mother of Janine “Jeanie” (Terry) Hohm, Chrissy (John) Loveless and Jackie Nothstine. Precious Grandmother of her beautiful grandchildren, Jamie (Ryan) Brazier, Mandi (John) Lowell, Justin Hohm and Austin Hohm. Granny as they called had special nicknames for each of her grandchildren. She lit up from head to toe when they walked in the room or talked to her on the phone. Granny spoiled all of us with her love and cheerful soul. One could not help but feel so special and loved in her presence.
Annie loved people. She was energized by the presence of people. She had a genuine feel of love for everyone. If you entered her home or she saw you out and about, you were always greeted with such enthusiasm and cheer. Life was a party; it was to be celebrated and she did to the fullest in her life, with her family and friends and also through her existence. One of her nicknames was Good Time Granny. Always in festive jewelry to celebrate a holiday and always having a gift or kind word to give for family and friends. She enjoyed gathering for Happy Hours and loved all of the fun and noise that came with a good time, the more the merrier. One of her most favorite times was spending time with family at the ocean, that creates many fond memories for our family together.
Annie was blessed to have had two careers that she loved, both involved helping people better themselves and helping people have a good time. For 25 years she worked as a Weight Watcher lecturer inspiring and helping members to overcome obstacles and to lose weight. She celebrated every single pound lost with each of her members. She also spent 20 years coordinating and hosting many day trips, including casinos and other adventurers to bring people together, no matter who they were or where they were from. Her delight was gathering with others.
God blessed her with all the things she loved during her years of work and she lived them to the fullest. When Granny made friends, we all made friends.
Our Sincere gratitude to Kindred Hospice and the wonderful nurses that became mom’s friends. We are sincerely grateful for the love and care that they have shown mom and the relationships that we made.
Moms wishes were for a party…A Celebration of her life will be held around her birthday within the next couple of months with a balloon release. Mom celebrated every occasion with balloons.
